The staff at the hotel helped but the manager that I never met apparantly told the staff what could and could not be done. I was booked into a room that only allowed 2 people but I had 4 and a baby. They stated that we could not stay in the room as it will only accomodate 2 people. They did allow me to pay 35 per person for the first night so I ended up paying 200 for a one night stay. They informed me that they did not have any other rooms available. Later that night there was an upset person that was yelling as they wanted to charge him 200 for the room they had. Bottom line is they made more money charging me per person versus allowing me to rent another room. They had a vacany sign lit up the entire time but again kept telling me that they had not rooms available. They just did not want to honor the rate I booked online and wanted to leave the rooms available in case someone else came through they could rob them at 200 a night. I will never stay at this place again. This was the most uncomfortable situation and stay I have ever had. The parking is ridiculous and they watch every move you make from the office. All in all the manager or owner which probably is the same person is money hungry and could care less about the customer.
We booked the hotel because it had 3 beds, which we needed, and it was close to us Berkeley. The management was responsive to our needs - as described below.
1. The person in the room next to us had his tv on so loud that we could not sleep. At 4am I went to the office to ask them if there was anything they could do. Somehow they were able to stop the tv noise, but then the person was hacking and coughing. The walls were too thin to keep the noise our. We had a bad night with little sleep. 2. We chose the hotel because it had 3 beds and my husband and I were travelling with 2 teenagers. We were charged for an extra person but I had to go back down to the office to ask for an extra bath towel. In the end we paid way too much for a shabby room. 3. The table in the room was broken - it was too wobbly to use. The upholstered chairs at the table were filthy. The light switches in the room blinked green light all night - we had to tape a piece of paper over them so we could sleep. Some of the light bulbs did not work.
Staff was very helpful. The location near the subway and close to the Berkeley campus was very good. Price was an excellent value.
The room was very small, and walls between rooms were thin.
Thye room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
The shower was cool and phone reception on my Trakfone was variable. Only the sports tv channel was avbailable.
The room was not clean and it was moderately comfortable.
The ratio price/quality was better than for other hotels which I found on the internet
The location was excellent with good access to bus and bart. The staff that we met were very helpful.
Noisy at night... People talking in parking lot and trucks on the street
staff was friendly
no kleenex tissue no ice machine no vending machine no tub or bowl for ice these are standard amentities and we should have been notified prior to our booking that they were not available!
No cleaning at all, during 5 days if staying, they never clean the room. Never, Never and Never
The customer service of the manager was absolutely horrible!!!!! very rude!
comfortable bed, location was convenient to Treasure Island in SF, free parking, ref + microwave
door locks a little sketchy - it would be easy to break into the room. bathtub had no non-slip strips and was dangerous IMO
The room was clean and nice. The reception was helpful. The location was about 20-25 min walking distance from cal and 10 min from North Berkeley Bart Station. Several food restaurants and cafe were nearby.
Walking distance to UCBerkeley.
the price on the website was not the same price they tried to charge to my card- the hotel was trying to increase the rate because they were busy. I refused the higher quote and paid the price you advertised but it was weird. Very cramped parking only 1 way in and out on a busy street- very challenging to get in and out.
this hotel is good for me because is near to CAL and near to BART
everything was good
